Mythic Embodiement & The Yoga Sūtras Weekend Immersion
Yoga Center Denver
In this immersive weekend we explore the wisdom of the Yoga Sūtras through the art of mythic storytelling and embodied yoga practice. The sūtras offer clear, piercing philosophical teachings that illuminate the nature of mind and the path of Yoga. Mythology brings these teachings to life, speaking directly to the heart and our shared human experience in ways the analytical mind cannot. Through story, students develop a living relationship with archetypal energies that can support them in meeting life’s opportunities—and challenges—with greater awareness and intention. Each session integrates mantra, prāṇāyāma, and āsana practiced as a moving breathing meditation, along with thoughtful prop use to support exploration and accessibility. Participants will leave with practices and perspectives they can draw upon in daily life. Throughout the weekend we will explore four archetypal themes:
• Crossing the Threshold — Gaṇeśa Clearing obstacles and introducing the Yoga Sūtras as a guide to understanding the nature of the mind. • The Mind’s Subtle Tapestry — Sarasvatī Exploring the movements of thought (vṛttis) and how awareness reveals the deeper river of wisdom within. • Courage & Clarity — Durgā Working with the kleśas, the inner forces that create confusion and limitation, and discovering the strength that emerges through practice. • The Heart Remembers — Kṛṣṇa Returning to the essence of practice through abhyāsa and vairāgya—steady practice and gentle letting go. Yoga Alliance Continuing Education (CE) credits available. Sarah’s teaching presents Yoga as an integrated practice, weaving together āsana, prāṇāyāma, mantra, mudrā, meditation, mythology, and the wisdom of the Yoga Sūtras. Through these elements, she invites students to explore Yoga not only as a physical practice, but as a path of inquiry and a way of living.
